    Episode 99 - Pitchin' A Tent

Adam and Timmy are very excited about Patriots camp this weekend! Timmy is intrigued by the possibility of a new "dog" coming to town to run the wildcat offense...maybe? The guys bitch and complain about the Sox and their slump, while Timmy continues to lobby for Papi to be shipped out of town. Bear in mind the production of this episode occurred 2 hours before the papi steroid news broke. Timmy was right again! That's twice now! Anyway, the TNA is here sans Rubba Shoes and Dukes. Prepare for the most action packed show in some time as all four will be in studio for Mondays 100th Episode. Enjoy the TNA and your weekend and thanks for listening.

GUEST BLOG: Why The Red Sox SHOULDN'T Trade for Halladay

I get it. "Doc" Halladay is the sexiest "name" out there as we approach the 2009 trade deadline. He is seemingly the only pitcher in baseball who throws complete games on a regular basis. And if he was added to the Boston rotation, the Sox would have undoubtedly the best rotation in baseball, particularly with a 3-man playoff rotation of Beckett, Lester, and Halladay (Wakefield being the 4th).

I mean, look at the lifelong Blue Jay's career numbers, courtesy of baseball reference.com. 142-69 record in 300 games. FORTY FOUR complete games. TWELVE SHUTOUTS. 1410 strikeouts, compared to only 440 walks. That's a better than 3-1 ratio. Six time All Star, one Cy Young award, and 4 top 5 Cy Young finishes. You could easily make a case for him being the best pitcher in baseball.

But here are the most important numbers. 32 years old and parts of 12 Major League Seasons. Despite being at his athletic peak (he notched a career-high 206 strikeouts in 2008), he's not going to be there for long. As hard as he throws, and as deep into games as he goes, he has a very limited shelf life.

The Red Sox would have to mortgage their future to get Doc. They would have to give up arguably their best pitching prospect in Clay Buchholz, and likely their next best prospects in Michael Bowden, and Daniel Bard, possibly more. And that's assuming Toronto's GM JP Ricciardi would even deal his ace within the division. And you know Ricciardi is a smart baseball guy - he still has his Boston accent.

As Randy Booth of overthemonster.com puts it, Sox GM Theo Epstein was faced with a similar dilemma last year, when it would have cost Jon Lester and then some to get another stud, Johan Santana. And Theo (forgive the pun) balked, because the price tag was too steep.

This is clear evidence of a new "stay the course" mentality in Boston that's taken shape with the new regime, particularly over the last 5 years. If today was July 29th, 2004, I'd be all for trading for Halladay. Before the "Curse" was broken, we had to win now at all costs. Our aging fathers and grandfathers were concerned that they would never see a championship in their lifetimes. 86 years of torment had been passed down through the generations. We had to win, to satisfy the older folks, and if anything, to stop those damned chants of "1918" emanating from the Bronx.

But life is different now, after not one, but two World Series Championships. The Sox want to win now AND later. And they are not going to mortgage the next 5-10 years just to say they've won THREE titles since the Yankees last put up a banner. If the Sox added Halladay, they'd be the odds on favorite to win the 2009 World Series. They'd have to be. But then, what happens when Doc becomes a free agent? What if the Yankees outbid us? Where does that leave us for 2010, and beyond?

Now that the animalistic appetite for a championship has been quenched - again, twice - the Sox don't need to mortgage the farm to win this year. And besides, with a rotation of Beckett, Lester, Wakefield, Buchholz, and Penney (sorry Smoltz), I think we've got just as good a chance as anyone.

YES, we know we spelled Faux Pas wrong, listen to the episode and find 'O'ut why. It might have something to do with 'O'bnoxious 'O'rioles fans. It might have something to do with Bobby Duggan's 'O'bnoxious choice of headwear. 'O'r it might have something to do with all of the above.

    Race #8 - York Days 5K - 7.26.09

So we headed down to Maine for this weeks race. Wait, did I just say down to Maine? Yup, that is how the locals always say it. Actually as a New Hampshirite I would say up. Anyway we went. It was actually the "26th Annual Amidon Family Dentistry York Days 5K Road Race" - phew! Ironically enough they were aiming for a more convoluted title for the run, but it was unable to be passed by the town fathers after being ratified 3 times in last Falls triumvirate of conclaves. Those Yorkers, they're busy people! None the less, we ran! In the rain!

It was a nice course with ample police presence and traffic control. An 8 am gun time made for a dismal spectator turnout as we winded through town. There was one great moment as I passed a "gentleman" grabbing his paper from his front walk. He stood in total disbelief that he had just rolled out of bed and 800 people were running passed his house. Punctuated by the butt scratch and belch that he offered as we went by. I let out a fist pump and a hearty "thanks for coming out!" He declined to further the exchange.

Again it was a nice run with a start and finish mat, therefore we had actual net times. Very bumpy at first as some people in the middle of the pack had trouble getting through the narrow start gate. I chose this week to start mid-pack as i find it nicer to run the first leg of the race finding a good spot as the pack begins to thin out. Also for myself as a "newbie" to the sport it is nice to build confidence by passing a lot of others as you pick your spot. All in all I still need to find my kick at the end of the runs. I could have closed faster in my opinion. As I told my wife, I need to treat the last mile as if I just stole something and the authorities are in pursuit. Alas it was a successful day for Team Cameron. The boys toughed out the weather with their Batman toys in the double jogging stroller as they accompanied Gianina at the finish jockeying for photos.

I finished 147th of 785 runners with a time of 22:56 - a new personal record for us! Our next run is Thursday, August 6th in Portsmouth. The 13th Annual (wait for it) Thunder Chicken 5K Road Race & Barbecue! Do you love it or what? Two years ago I know which part of this event I would have been competing in for cash prizes. As always thank you for being involved in our effort to raise awareness and funds for Autism and we appreciate every bit of help anyone can offer us. ATOS: Na Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye!!

    Sox trade for LaRoche

The Red Sox and Pirates have agreed in principle to a trade that would send first baseman Adam LaRoche of the Pittsburgh Pirates to Boston. The two sides are still finalizing details, and the deal is described as “close.”

LaRoche is a power-hitting first baseman who has averaged 24.5 homers over the past four seasons with the Braves and Pirates. He is hitting .247 with a .329 OBP and .441 slugging mark for the Pirates this year, down from career totals of .269/.338/.486.

According to multiple baseball sources, the Pirates will receive shortstop Argenis Diaz and pitcher Hunter Strickland when the deal is finalized. Diaz is known as a gifted defensive player, but there are questions about his bat. The 22-year-old Diaz is hitting .253/.309/.310 with Double-A Portland this year. Strickland, an 18th round pick in 2007, is 5-4 with a 3.35 ERA for the Greenville Drive of the Single-A South Atlantic League this year. The 6-foot-5 20-year-old has shown excellent command for the Drive, with a 51-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 83.1 innings this year.

LaRoche is eligible for free agency following this season. He is playing on a one-year, $7.05 million deal in 2009, his last as an arbitration-eligible player. His brother, Andy, was part of the three-team deal that sent Jason Bay to Boston and Manny Ramirez to Los Angeles last July 31.

Episode 96 - Radio Ga Ga

Over the weekend Timmy attempted to play golf at a benefit for Autism while Adam sat on the beach and cranked Lady Ga Ga in his ride. Timmy defends Tiger as he is jabbed at by ESPN and also uncovers the other P.G.A. Tour (pellet gun attack). It all comes down to the wire for the Sox, are they the huckleberry that Doc is yearning for? Do Adam and Timmy still heart radio? It's Monday Night on The Wicked Pissa Podcast. Adam and Timmy are at no shortage for stories from the weekend. Adam went from a children's birthday party, to a pub crawl in L.A. Arturo "Thunder" Gatti (1972 - 2009)

I think it is official now. This summer God is simply collecting the unforgettable talents that I have admired for years. Arturo Gatti was found dead in his Brazilian hotel room Saturday morning. He was 37 years old and apparently a victim at the hands of a loved one. His wife Amanda has apparently contradicted herself enough during questioning with authorities that they feel she is now suspect number one. Another sad ending to an amazing athletes life. If you are a fan of "Irish" Mickey Ward, and I am, then you must have also admired Arturo. Their trilogy of fights in the early half of this decade defined the two fighters careers. They were without fail amongst the greatest fights I had ever seen. A sad day for boxing, his loved ones and his friend Mickey. God speed Arturo. Ten bells for you Champ.

    Race #7 Harbour Trail 5K - 7.11.09

This week the travel was light and the leg was weary. Team Cameron headed off Saturday morning for the Portsmouth Harbour Trail 5K, right in our back yard. After a light week of training due to the injured right wheel that I was sporting, I never felt that I hit a rhythm. This week the goal as usual was an improvement on my personal record (23:02). Unfortunately it wasn't my day and we'll have to focus on getting stronger for the next one. I finished 94th of 375 runners with a time of 23:20.

Our next race is the York Days 5K on Sunday, July 26th. Thank you to all of those who have given us words of encouragement and to those who continue to donate to First Giving. Race #7 marks the halfway point of our 5K challenge for the 2008 running season. We still have a ways to go to reach the halfway point for our financial goal. Episode 92 - Red White and Bruised

In the end, Adam and Timmy had a great 4th...two very different celebrations, but equally enjoyable.

Adam was in NYC with his wife and sister-in-law for the Shake Shack and ESPN-Zone as well as a visit to Ground Zero and the Statue of Liberty, finished off by fireworks, VERY FUN!!

Timmy's 4th started off a little shakier (see photo to the left) Yup, that's TIMMY'S leg, BEFORE the Carson Memorial race in Chelmsdale. After that fiasco Timmy's 4th was a HUGE celebration with the old Chelmsford crew and the family.

Oh, there were also sports to talk about. The Celtics are getting ready to sign Rasheed Wallace and rumor has it Grant Hill is next. What does this mean for the Green and White? The boys discuss.

Also, Timmy Wakefield made his first All-Star game along with five other Red Sox.

    Race #6 John Carson Memorial - 7.04.09

Our holiday was red, white and bruised. To say that Team Cameron got off on the wrong foot would be an understatement. We loaded the boys into the family truckster and were just about to head south for Chelmsford when we realized we had forgotten something. As I quickly headed back into the house madness ensued. Hurrying up the front porch my left foot never quite caught any traction with the wet lumber. Ugh! So, the left foot falls off the porch and my right shin (in mid air at this point) grates down the front of the stairs. I left quite a bit of myself on those stairs, it was a fine how do you do at 7:25 am.

We stopped the bleeding (for the time being) and headed to Chelmsford. It was a fun 2 mile run, the most populated course I have ever been on. North Road in Chelmsford is packed with people waiting for the parade that quickly follows. I promised Aidan and Cameron that I would stop and pick them up to do the last 1/8th of a mile together. We did. After all this is what it is all about, Cameron being involved in everyday things and being exposed to "typical" experiences.

Team Cameron (daddy and the boys) finished in 16:42 averaging an 8:21 mile. We'll take it considering the physical circumstances we ran under. The next race is another 5K this Saturday in Portsmouth, NH. We have some healing to do in the meantime. Wish us luck and thank you for all your support thus far. To get involved with Team Cameron go to First Giving - we appreciate all your efforts.

    Thank you from Team Cameron

    R.I.P. Steve "Air" McNair

When I remember Steve McNair my first thought is of him on the cover of Sports Illustrated when he was Alcorn State saying "is it possible for a small school QB to win the Heisman?" He of course did not win the Heisman, but did become probably the greatest QB in Division 1-AA history. When Steve McNair was drafted by the Houston Oilers he did something that most QBs taken third overall do not do, which is sit on the bench. McNair sat on the bench for the first two seasons of his NFL career learning the NFL game, this shows his respect for the game that most players his age never have (Ryan Leaf).

His first season starting was in 1997 and only two seasons, a "Music City Miracle" later he was in the Super Bowl falling just a yard short of being a champion in the NFL. Steve McNair played 8 seasons for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans and made those fans forget they have not had a great QB since Warren Moon. Though he was signed by the Ravens in 2006 as a free agent and most folks believed that he was on the back end of his career he led the Ravens to a 13-3 record before falling short in the post season. That would be his final "great" season and he would retire in 2008 after a injury plagued 2007 season.

Steve McNair had a great career and will go down as one of the top QB's in this era, and maybe in the top 20-30 quarterbacks to ever play the game. An MVP in 2003 Steve McNair was a tough competitor and a leader on the field. He also had great sportsmanship which I think is rare now a days, even in defeat he was always a class act.

Rest in peace Steve McNair your NFL career will be remembered as a great one.

    Welcome to Boston Sheed!

According to sources The Boston Celtics have added Rasheed Wallace for two years at the mid-level exception. This makes the Celtics the best defensive team in basketball hands down. I am not exaggerating just to make a point. I want you to sit back and think about the rotation and the depth the Celtics will have in the front court (the exact problem if you remember they had in the post season) Perk, Garnett, Brain Scals, and Wallace. I would like to include Leon Powe in that list, but don't expect him back in Green and White anytime soon. As for Davis the C's will extend a qualifying offer to make him a restricted Free Agent and then you can throw his name in that impressive and intimidating list.

Rasheed Wallace is a veteran with a hot head we all know this, but to me this is not too different from the Pats taking a chance on a player like Corey Dillon. The leadership of the big three should hold Wallace to a smaller amount of technical fouls this season. Much like the Pats leadership of Brady, Tedy, Vrabel...list goes on, did for Dillon. Another situation is Dennis Rodman joining the Bulls with MJ. Known as a crazy man with a temper he became a key player in the greatest season in basketball history when they won 72 games.

Jordan was a great leader and I will challenge anyone to say the big three (especially KG) can't do what Michael did and keep Sheed in line as they all want to win a ring. Rasheed may be a head case, but according to reports his teammates love to play with him. It also says a lot that all three future HOF players on this current Celtics team went with Danny, Wyc and Doc to make this pitch for another ring. This deal is a win now deal which some like and some don't...me I like! I am not sure I am ready to sit here and wait for another rebuilding era to start quite yet in Boston. You do remember losing 18 games in a row right?

So welcome to Boston Rasheed Wallace, some may not welcome you with open arms right away but trust me when you start to play that D we have seen you play against the C's and knock down a few treys and you will hear them talking about "The Big FOUR!" I am sure someone will have a better name by then...Timmy you got anything? Go Green!

Episode 91 - Proud To Be

Well look who's been left to mind the show...the old guard. The senior members of the Wicked Pissa Dude team join forces to bring you this weeks TNA (Thursday Night Addition). Timmy a.k.a. "Nostradumbass" and Billy a.k.a. "Rubba Shoes" are set to welcome another member of the local nine to US citizenship. They'll also speculate on the Celtics latest courtship with Rasheed Wallace and the chance of the "bad boy" becoming a "homeboy" for Team Green. Have the Bruins made any noise in the free agent market? The guys will discuss all that and check in on their fantasy baseball and nascar teams. Thanks for checking out the blog and the shows. WHY!?!?!?!?!

After a meeting today with Rasheed Wallace, his agent, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Danny Ainge, the C's offered 'Sheed a contract today...UGH.

I guess my plea fell on deaf ears this morning. What's that all about Danny? I thought you were an avid reader and listened to everything I had to say.

Well at least Timmy and Scotty would be fired up...although Rasheed says he is not in any rush to make any decisions. I can't imagine a trip to play with Lebron and Shaq in Cleveland wouldn't be pretty inticing to him.

    Read the story here.

Just Say NO to Rasheed Wallace

Ok, ok, before you jump down my throat about how Rasheed Wallace is a great player. How the Celtics would be lucky to have him, hear me out.

The Celtics of 2009 define professionalism. Led by the Big 3 (and trust me they will be back with a vengeance) the Boston Celtics show up to work and always give 110%, with the rest of the team following suit.

With the Celtics right now, there is very little BS. No team is perfect of course and there are some question marks about the professionalism of Rajon Rondo, made even by the GM, but with these minor issues the Celtics are a shining example of what an organization in the NBA should be.

So what does all this have to do with Rasheed Wallace? Do I think he doesn't work hard? No. Do I think he wouldn't be a good addition to the Celtics lineup? No. I do however think he is a cry baby

I have always thought this about Rasheed Wallace. I thought it about him when he played for the Trail Blazers, the Hawks and more than ever while he has been with the Pistons. I don't think I am alone in saying this, there are many people who believe 'Sheed is a cry baby, a clubhouse cancer and just all around a sore sport that doesn't deserve the paper that his checks are cashed on.

Now of course, there are the on-court things he brings to the Celtics. He brings a proven center-forward into the fold for the Celtics. He brings a good relationship with Kevin Garnett which will help with chemistry. He is a beast on the boards and very strong defensively and would certainly sure up the C's bench.

So, if you're looking at it from a strictly basketball stand point, he is a no-brainer, but everyone knows that not everything is about what a player can do on the court. So Mr. Ainge, I implore you, please remove Rasheed Wallace from your list of potential free agents you are pursuing.

Ainge said on the first night of free agency he contacted 10 free agents about interest in playing for the Celtics organization. Rasheed Wallace has responded by saying the interest is mutual.
