    Episode 159 - Senior Discount

Adam and Jess were out late at a party while Timmy and Gianina went to the late show at the movies. The guys bitch and complain about the prices of drinks and movie tickets all the while bickering that the Patriots have not been big spenders themselves. Timmy will check in with Scotty Dukes "down on the farm" and see how the move is going. The fantasy seasons for hoops and hockey are coming to a close and Adam is still hoping to make a little noise. Are the Yankees actually, finally getting too old? Is Adam right to say Yankee fans are obnoxious? What does Timmy think about them? All that and a delightful story about the Drum Hill Rotary. Thanks for listening and have a great week.

Also the demise of one of the fantasy leagues could be a harsh reality. All this and who has already benefited from Obama's job package - you'll find out right here. Episode 147 - Why!?!?!?!?

**If you have not already subscribed to the new feed, you can do so here. As of Feb. 1st, 2010 it will be the only feed that will deliver the show to you**

Unexpectedly, Nancy Kerrigan was back in the news again today and once again it was not for good news...she really can't catch a break. The boys discuss.

Then it's on to Boston sports where none of our teams can catch a break, well maybe with the exception of the Patriots who were pleased to discover that Tom Brady will not need surgery during the off-season...ahhhh at least a breath of air anyway.

With the NBA trade deadline just days away now (Feb. 18th) rumors are swirling around Ray Allen who is in his final year of his contract with the Green Team, we get birthday boy Scotty Dukes in on the show to talk Celts.

Adam even brought up the Bruins for a change and NOT for something good...the B's couldn't even fend off the lowly Hurricanes over the weekend and Adam watched every grueling moment of it on a visit home to MA.

All this and a complete fantasy round-up on the show this week.

    Episode 144 - Spin Doctors

The Weekend Preview Crew sets out to make their case for a better tomorrow in Patriot Nation. Rubba Shoes asks Timmy & Adam for help in making his decision in the voting booth on Tuesday the 19th. Residents of Massachusetts (did we spell that correctly Martha?) are encouraged to stump for their candidate here. All in all it was another interesting week with a brand new segment for Uncle Dukes to go Green and hockey takes a back seat to politics with Timmy & Rubba Shoes? This could be interesting. Could be...None the less, thanks for listening and have a great weekend.

    Episode 143 - Cleanin' House

Next year when you stop by the Dunkin Donuts at Patriot Place don't be surprised to see a familiar face behind the counter mixing your coffee coolata. In fact, there might be a few familiar faces if the Patriots know what's good for them.

Will Randy Moss be a New England Patriot next year?

What is Tom Brady's future? How about Coach Belichick? Will the Patriots clean house in the receiver core and bring in some guys who can stretch the field? What about at running back?

All of these questions are answered as Timmy and Adam weigh in on the season that was and what Pats fans have to look forward to in the coming years.

Also, don't forget every Monday the boys check in on the Fantasy sports they love so dearly. We'll let you guess where Adam's team ended up.

    Episode 142 - Trophy Town

We could be talking about Boston or New York, even Gainsville. Alas, it's all about Chelmsford. Coach K has done it again. He has won both the fantasy baseball and now the fantasy football championships in Wicked Pissa Nation. Annoyed, some (Uncle Dukes) shocked, none. This guy has a fricken 4 Square trophy from Russell Mill Swim & Tennis Club. Unreal! Timmy and Rubba Shoes check in with the Coach to confirm that he will make good on his promise to "buy the trophy if he wins the league." Also the guys will discuss why the Bruins game at Fenway made one of them cry. Really? We'll also get Pats predictions from the pigskin prognosticators "Dugan & Dukes." The Celtics are limping off the MASH unit and the Sox are most likely done shopping for the groceries right? So, how is dinner gonna taste this Summer? All that and the "wow Adam never checks his team" roundup. Right here on the Wicked Pissa Dude Podcast. Thanks for listening and have a great weekend.

    Episode 140 - Confessions of a Shopaholic

Timmy opted out of the Patriots home playoff game this year and he also opted out of the 4th quarter of yesterdays game at Gillette because he heard there was a sale at Old Navy...it's true.

    Send e-mails HERE.

In the final episode of 2009, Timmy and Adam look back on the Christmas that was including reindeer and train sets....Oh right, there were some sports.

Should Pats fans be psyched or annoyed that the Colts blew their perfect season?

Is there any hope that the Patriots will see the Colts in Indy for the AFC East Championship?

Will Coach K lose his first championship match-up in Wicked Pissa Dude Fantasy sports play?

All this and more on this week's show. Plus, the song this week is a killer version of Foreigner's Cold As Ice featuring Jay-Z in honor of the Winter Classic @ Fenway - yes there was actual mention of hockey.

Enjoy the show and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Episode 139 - No Glad Tidings

This week starts of with a bang as Timmy and Rubba Shoes welcome some surprise guests to the show. The focus remains on Adams rant about Rasheed Wallace as "some people" just can't shake the baseless argument he offered. Hint - he is a coach for Chelmsford High School. Also Rubba Shoes explains why he is glad that Mikey Lowell hasn't quite left town yet and discusses his inability to beat anyone in his family when playing the Wii.

Timmy just came down off the mountain, literally. He spent the afternoon training with his new race team - Acidotic Racing as "Team Cameron" prepares for the Granite State Snowshoe Series. You can get involved here. All this and the pigskin predictions for the Patriots and BC's Emerald Bowl game with USC. Oh and of course the fantasy round up with Bobby Dugan and Uncle Dukes. On the Merry Christmas - YES MERRY CHRISTMAS edition of The Wicked Pissa Dude Podcast. Thanks for listening and have a great weekend.

Not Gonna Say I Told You So...BUT

Last night the Boston Celtics lost their fifth game of the season, leaving them four games away from the 73-9 mark that Rasheed Wallace predicted at the beginning of the season. Doesn't look so likely right now Sheed does it?

The Celtics lost 98-97 to the Philadelphia 76ers in a game that they should've won. Who is to blame? Rasheed Wallace if you ask Frank Dell'Appa at boston.com who wrote this article about the Wallace's ejection from last nights game and he has a point.

OK, I know Rasheed has been a valuable asset the Celtics this season and will continue to be down the stretch, but this is exactly the thing that I was worried about when we signed him. He is a loose cannon and one that could go off at any time and hurt us in a tight spot.

In this case it was only a regular season game against the Sixers, but what if he gets tossed from an Eastern Conference Finals game against Lebron and the Cavs or Dwight Howard and the Magic? What then? Do we forgive and forget?

I don't like to be woah is me, but let's be real, he is who is. The Celtics are not the Patriots who took Corey Dillon and turned him into a model citizen or revived a struggling Randy Moss (until last weekend.) The Celtics are still the Celtics. They can't keep their point guard in check let alone a bad apple like Wallace.

I am not saying let's dump him, I am just saying that Doc needs to reign him in before he gets out of control. If he implodes at a crucial juncture in the season we could be S.O.L. and everyone knows this is probably our last shot at a 18th ring.

    Episode 136 - Lackey Luster

No...we're not talking about Randy Moss' performance during Sunday's game against the Panthers, but rather the Red Sox signing John Lackey...is it done yet? He's here for a physical, we believe it's wrapped up.

Will Lackey be the fix the Red Sox need to compete with the Yankees?
The boys discuss this and many other aspects of the Red Sox off season moves. We'll take this time to wish Theo a Happy Hanukkah and let him know that we hope for many more spending sprees over the course of the next eight days or so...

The Pats also got back on the winning track, which has everyone, EXCEPT Randy Moss, happy. Timmy and Adam discuss whether or not things are better for the woeful Pats and whether Randy just "gave up" on the team.

Happy Hanukkah to all of our Jewish friends.

Well, Tiger needs a mulligan. Ok, five or more. The Winter Meetings are not heating up for the Sox. Maybe it's because they are in Indianapolis. New England got it's first big snowstorm and the guys are finally back together on Thursday for the weekend preview. Timmy and Rubba Shoes are here to discuss the remains of the day. When will the Celtics hit a bump and will it include some bruises? Will the Patriots lose a 3rd straight game? Are the Bruins "the haves" and are the Canadiens "the hab nots?" All this and a special musical tribute to the guys favorite golfer...wait, is he still their favorite golfer. Let's find out on the Weekend Preview edition of the Wicked Pissa Dude Podcast. Thanks for listening and have a great weekend.

    Tough Morning in Boston

Boston fans woke up this morning to some harsh realities. First off, it looks very likely that the Boston Red Sox will be sending Mike Lowell packing. The trade was reported late last night and while nothing is confirmed at this time, it looks like Lowell will be shipped to Texas for Max Ramirez.

The deal is not set in stone yet, but to see Mikey Lowell bounced is just a sad thing all the way around. The classiest guy in the organization and a member of the '07 champs, Mike Lowell was one of the biggest reasons to watch the Red Sox in the last couple of years. Getting rid of him, gives me one more reason to not be upset that I don't have NESN.

Speaking of which, normally I loathe Shaughnessy and his snarky and mostly annoying columns, but I think in this case, he has a point. Read his most recent column about how the Red Sox have "given up" competing with the Yankees here.

Then there's the ailing Patriots who are "rebuilding." Nostradumbass has been talking about the 7 years of famine and the rebuilding that is in progress in Foxboro for months now and the national sports media is getting on board too. Check out this piece on ESPN.com.

As much as it pains me to say it, Nostradumbass might be on to something. We'll have much more on all of these stories on the Wicked Pissa Podcast, but this has just been a bummer of a morning to be cheering on any of the Boston sports teams...oh wait, the C's are still going strong, I guess.

Well the guys have been reunited on the interwebs in stunning high fidelity! Timmy is now operating out of the all new Studio S (Strafford) via the blazing services of Metrosmash (Metrocast) and Adam is back with him in full force from Studio C (Connecticut) with Craplevision (Cablevision). Stand back everyone this thing might blow! None the less all is well with the guys, their teams are another story. What do they make of the Patriots follies as of late? Does Adam Actually care about the Bruins enough to let Timmy weasel in a few comments? Will KG ever look up while at the post game presser? All these questions and more are right here for your listening pleasure at Wicked Pissa Dude's Weekend Wrap Up. Thanks for listening and have a great week.

Episode 130 - What the FAULK!?!?!?

When you turn on this episode of the Wicked Pissa Dude Podcast you may think that it is a gaming show, but that's just Adam and Timmy trying to distract you from the biggest collapse in the Belichick/Brady era.

So, what do the boys think of the latest video game to hit the Nintendo Wii? Check out the show to find out.

Want to hear what happened in the New England Patriots v. Indianapolis Colts tilt from last night? Tough luck, they didn't want to talk about it.

Ok, ok, they spent some time on the game, trust me. The boys also take comments from Wicked Pissa Nation on the game, the call and the implications of what happened last night at the Oil Can.

What do you think of Coach Belichick's decision to go for it on 4th and 2 with just over 2 minutes to go in the game?

Also Adam and Timmy check in on the world of fantasy sports including the WPD match-up of the week - the RIVALRY OF THE DECADE - The Seacoast Shenanigan's v. The Connecticut Clippers. All the other fantasy action is right here for your pleasure too.

The boys chat with Scotty Dukes and Bobby Dugan and get their picks for football and a little fantasy trash talk about how great Dugan's team in Fantasy Basketball is...I knew there was a reason we didn't let him be a part of football.

    Episode 122 - Snow Contest

It was a rainy, snowy, windy and cold day at Foxboro for the Patriots tilt against the Tennessee Titans and more importantly it was the Wicked Pissa Dude company retreat. The Patriots won 59-0 and Sam Adams Oktoberfest won 15-0 v. Scotty Dukes.

Are the Patriots back? Has Tom Brady snapped out of his fog? Is the defense the real deal? Is Scotty Dukes sober yet? All of these questions are answered on this episode of the Wicked Pissa Dude Podcast Weekend Wrap-up with Adam and Timmy.

Unfortunately it was so wet and cold that there is no evidence of the retreat, so you'll have to rely on this recap of the experience with the boys.

Believe it or not on this episode there actually were statistics. We don't guarantee that they are correct, but we tried, because they were SO good!!

    Shock & Awww

When the Red Sox and the Angels were set to play yet again in the ALDS most people thought it would be business as usual. The Sox have dominated the Halos over the past few seasons when it mattered most. I am not going to sit here and lie to you and say that I was not one of those people, I was thinking that the teams were more evenly matched this season, but none the less the Sox were going to win. Well the day has to come when you no longer have someones number, it happens in every sport (Pats vs Colts is the first that comes to mind) and for the Red Sox it has now happened in back to back seasons. The Tampa Bay Rays lost the "Devil" in their name and then lost the jinx against the Sox and bounced them out in the ALCS.

This time around there wouldn't even be a decisive final game i.e. a game 5 as the Sox are swept out of the playoffs for the first time since the eventual champion White Sox did it in '05. So instead of looking at the many reasons the Sox lost this series (poor fielding, uninspired pitching, lack of hitting, and a bullpen that was very shaky) let us look to the off season and who will be around Jason Bay, maybe Jason Varitek, most likely as an expensive backup. What about the rotation will Wake return? Will Dice-K be healthy? Can Clay keep the momentum from a good season? All these questions and more in the weeks to come...since we don't have any more Red Sox baseball to watch the rest of 2009, we must all trust Theo and company to answer these questions and more so we don't lose yet another number next fall.

    Episode 119 - Patriot Reins

Can they do it? Will the Patriots be able to tame the horses running wild at 4-0? What will Bill pull out this week to get inside Josh's head? Lots of questions on the gridiron for both the pro and college squads here in the Wicked Pissa Nation. The Sox are underway in their quest to add another ring to the jewelery case, do they still have "it?" How are the Bruins and Habs doing for Timmy and Rubba Shoes? Well it's Thursday so there will actually be some hockey talk to get into. Has Timmy found a new studio yet? All this and the gamut of fantasy scores and stats to review. It is a jam packed weekend preview with Billy and Timmy and a myriad of guests on the Wicked Pissa Podcast. Thanks for listening and have a great weekend.

Ep 118 - The Lollipop Guild

In honor of another great win for the New England Patriots in which Tom Brady found two of the three members of the Lollipop Guild (Wes Welker and Julian Edelman) open for completions we have ceremoniously summoned the spirit of the Wizard of Oz to name this episode The Lollipop Guild. While we explored other options that involved Ya Dude's at Gillette and their Super Ex-Girlfriends, we decided to stay on the playing field to name this episode.

It wasn't pretty, but the Patriots got it done and are now 3-1, this week, Adam gloats over his standing prediction of a 13-3 finish for the Pats even as the road traveled gets much tougher with the Patriots headed to Denver next week.

The Red Sox provided much less excitement as they are spending their couple of days before the playoffs start trying to figure out which rookie sensation will help them win the World Series this year, even while getting screwed by Brett Favre (Timmy explains.)

And it's fantasy round-up time as the boys round the horn on baseball, football, hockey and nascar. A BIG congratulations to our World Series champion Coach K who went 19-3 with his Bentley Bombers to take home the crown.

Patriots Win: A Win is a Win

It could've been a lot worse. It could've been an L, because there is no doubt that there were some plays that the Atlanta Falcons left on the field, but the truth is, the New England Patriots found a way to win.

Tom Brady was less then spectacular with his final stat line looking like a rookie quarterback who put together a decent start. It could've been a lot worse. The Falcons dropped two sure thing INTs and that would've made Brady's 25/42 for 277 yds and one TD look a whole lot worse. But as coach would say, it is what it is.

At times in this game Brady was angry. At times he was frustrated. He threw a couple of balls out of the reach of his receivers when they were wide open. He had some of his receivers drop balls. And yet, in the end, he put together a drive that got New England into the end zone to finally seal the deal.

Brady has obviously not found his "groove" yet and still the New England Patriots are 2-1 starting the '09-'10 campaign.

How about that running game? A nice 105 yds from Fred Taylor who finally had his break out game and looks like the back of choice for the Patriots this season. The rest of the running game complimented Taylor to put up more yards on the ground today then in the opening games combined (156 total yards in the first two games - 168 yards today.)

The defense, who has yet to give up 300 yards to any team in the first three games of the season is holding it's own, even as Vince Wilfork went down in the first half today.

People who were expecting this team to be like the 2007 New England Patriots are going to be sadly disappointed. Tom Brady is a great quarterback and no one can deny that. He is better then 95% of the quarterbacks in the league, but clearly he is human.

That Pats will click and when they do, I don't think there is a team in the league that would want to face them in the playoffs. Will they make the playoffs? Of course they will. Will they breeze into the playoffs? Probably not.

So, Wicked Pissa Dude Nation, I urge you, as I did after last weeks loss, take a deep breath, the season is young and there is a lot of football left to be played. We will be strong and we will lead the AFC East, we're just going to have to shake those pesky Jets.

Plenty more on this game tomorrow on the weekend wrap-up, right here on wickedpissadude.com.

    Nostradumbass : Weekend Preview

Here is how I see things shaping up around here for the weekend in the wide world of Wicked Pissa sports. Let me get my crystal balls...there we go, all set. Mind you, none of these predictions are based on stats or facts just my gut going into the weekend. If I knew what I was talking about i would be reading the sports page at a breakfast buffet in Vegas right now.

    Haverill High @ Chelmsford High - Lions win 35 - 6

    Stony Brook @ UMass - Minutemen win 41 - 14

    Indiana @ Michigan - Wolverines win 42 - 20

    Notre Dame @ Purdue - Irish win (ugh) 35 - 28

Wake Forest @ Boston College - Demon Deacons win 24 -20

    Atlanta @ New England - Falcons win 34 - 23

Boston @ New York - Yankees take 2 of 3 (sox win Friday night)

Johnson wins at Dover to tighten up the Chase for the Cup in Nascar.

Padraig Harrington will take The Tour Championship by 2 strokes.

Enjoy the weekend - we'll review it all Monday on the weekend wrap up.

    Patriots Add Another Burgess

The New England Patriots acquired third-year LB Prescott Burgess today in a trade with Baltimore for an undisclosed draft choice. To make room for Burgess on the 53-man roster, the Patriots released C Ryan Wendell. Burgess, 6-3, 247 pounds, was originally a sixth-round draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2007 out of Michigan. He saw action in eight games as a rookie, posting seven special teams tackles before ending the year on injured reserve due to a hip injury.

Burgess spent the entire 2008 season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury that occurred during the preseason. He saw action in Baltimore’s first two games of the 2009 season but did not register any tackles. Wendell, 6-2, 285 pounds, was originally signed by New England as a rookie free agent out of Fresno State in 2008. After spending last season on the New England practice squad, Wendell made the 53-man roster out of training camp and played in the first two games on special teams. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if Belichick cherry picked Burgess to have an insight into Rex Ryan's scheme for the November 22 match up. Just a thought.

#10? Do The Patriots Deserve That?

    Weei.com has the New England Patriots listed at #10 in their NFL power rankings. Two questions here;

1.) When did EEI start doing power rankings?
2.) Do the Patriots really deserve to be at #10?

Let's start with letting you read their reasoning...

"(3) Brady doesn’t look comfortable in the pocket, and teams are going after No. 12 hard. It’s inevitable that future opponents will copy the Jets’ strategy and continue to pressure Brady and the offensive line. Let’s see how the the Pats respond Sunday when they face another tough test in the Falcons. Look for the Patriots to run the ball more and take advantage of their solid running backs, as I think Belichick realizes Brady has thrown the ball far too much over the past two games. The Patriots sit at No. 10 at this point, but by midseason Brady should be back in his groove and the defense will improve."

A couple of points here. Brady doesn't look comfortable in the pocket in week #2 because he missed an entire NFL season. he was on the sidelines while Matty Cassel was taking snaps, actually he wasn't even on the sidelines. You think any one of us armchair quarterbacks have any idea how fast an NFL game is really played? Must be hard to keep that sense about you when you're out for an entire season. Brady will be back to his usual self sooner then mid-season.

I also think his struggles are being overstated. He had a bad game. He's had games where he's thrown four picks in one game and nobody screamed bloody murder like they are doing now. Be patient with the guy and he will deliver.

As for the defense, maybe I am naive, but what was wrong with the defense. Mark Sanchez played very well and got the ball into some very tight spots. ALSO, the defense gave up only 3 points in the first half and aside from the two drives that the Jets managed to get some solid yardage did a pretty good job at containing the young, explosive offense. This is a defense that has yet to have anytime to gel together that did this. Imagine where we will be in two or three weeks.

The Patriots will be fine. Have we any reason to doubt a Bill Belichick coached team? Even with Tom Brady last year they went a very strong 11-5 and SHOULD HAVE made the playoffs. This season is NOT a wash two games in, so I invite everyone to stop acting like it is.

    Episode 114: Sunday Bloody Sunday

When 50% of the teams we talk about win their games, it's usually a great day on the Wicked Pissa Dude Podcast, but in this case it was the least consequential teams that won.

Yes we were excited by Chelmsford High School's big win over Acton Boxboro for the first time in 13 years and Coach K was very pleased.

I was also thrilled at UMass moving to 2-1 on the season with their 30-10 win over the Rhode Island Rams.

The same could not be said for the rest of us who are annoyed at this point the New England Patriots shut up but they didn't put up against the NY Jets, falling to the J-E-T-S 16-9 and there was plenty to disect from the game that was and look forward to with the tilt against the Falcons coming up on Sunday at Gillette, where Timmy will be quietly rooting for Matty Ryan.

Speaking of BC, they lost too...not a good weekend for Timmy's Eagles.

On a "view" note, Adam is back from St. Lucia and Timmy was dining at Davio's and rockin out to U2 at Gillette. The boys touch on it all and a quick fantasy round-up on the Weekend Wrap Up show.

Also new to the show, we welcome Matt Vautour to talk UMass Football. Matt is a staff writer for the Hampshire Daily Gazette and covers UMass Football.

Deep Breaths: New England Patriots Lose

I am as disappointed as the next New England Patriots fan. It was not a game we HAD to have by any stretch of the imagination, but it was one that we would've REALLY LIKED to have had. Anytime you lose to the NY Jets (even though we don't really know that feeling all that well) it hurts, especially when you play like Chelmsford High School on a bad year.

First the bad news, the Patriots completely stunk up the joint today. Yes, that is the understatement of the day. Tom Brady had a terrible day under center, in the pocket, out of the pocket and just about everywhere on the field at the Meadowlands. Randy Moss was really nowhere to be found (except on that one tackle he made after a Brady int which was a great play) and with no Wes Welker, Edelman did his best impression of the WR putting up 98 yds on 8 catches, not a bad replacement for Welker (given Brady had such a horrific day.)

Yes the defense had a great first half, but they fell asleep in the second leaving the Jets to pick them apart and put up some nice drives at the opening of the half.

So, now the good. There wasn't much to chose from, but I'll give it a go. Julian Edelman looked strong putting up near-Welker numbers on the Jets defense and he would've been over 100 yds receiving had Brady not missed him a couple of times. Fred Taylor, while not stunningly strong, had a couple of great runs and had he not been splitting time with LoMo, he may have had a break out game for the Patriots.

After the 16-9 loss to the Jets, there will be a whole lot of speculation on the New England Patriots. Lots of people will say Tom Brady still doesn't "have it" back and many (I'm looking at you Nostradumbass) will say that he will never return to form. NOT TRUE. This was a bad, horrendous game from Tom Brady, but it is not the end of the Tom Brady era in New England. He was missing spots. He was overthrowing guys and under throwing guys. It was a long time ago that Tom has had a bad game, but he HAS had them. He's thrown 4 interceptions in a number of games and the sky has never fallen.

In this game, the Patriots just couldn't turn the corner. Every time you thought they might, they fell short. Even with just under 2 minutes to go, there was a glimmer of hope, but it just never materialized into anything.

This loss seems bigger then it actually is because it was against the Jets and there was a lot of talk beforehand, but it was JUST the second game of the season. So, New England Patriots fans, take a couple deep breaths, sit back and relax, because the Pats will return to form next week against Matty Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons who come into Foxboro next week.

Take a couple of deep breaths and let US do the ranting and raving for you on the Wicked Pissa Dude Podcast Weekend Wrap-Up tomorrow.

Can't wait until tomorrow? Shoot us an e-mail and we'll read your rant on the show tomorrow. Lay it on us.

    Pats Workout Spicer & Askew

The Patriots have worked out former Jacksonville defensive end Paul Spicer (95) and ex-Denver defensive tackle Matthias Askew. The 34-year-old Spicer is 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds, and has bounced around professional football for the better part of the decade, playing in the NFL, CFL and NFL Europe.

An undrafted free agent who started his professional career with the Seahawks in 1998, his best season came in 2005 with the Jaguars when he accumulated 37 tackles (30 solo), 7.5 sacks, and two pass deflections. In his NFL career, he has 252 tackles, 28 1/2 sacks and one interception in 10 years in the NFL. Spicer was cut by New Orleans on Sept. 5 during the final major roster cut down.

Askew is a 27-year-old defensive tackle who was taken in the fourth round of the 2004 Draft out of Michigan State. At 6-foot-5 and 302 pounds, he too has bounced around the league, going from Cincinnati to Washington to Denver, where the Broncos waived him as part of their final cuts before the start of the 2009 season.

    Look Ahead: Patriots v. Jets

This weekend the New England Patriots will be back in the Meadowlands to take on the NY Jets with Tom Brady under center for the first time in over a year and they will be ready. The team isn't talking much, because as is usual with this team, they let the opponents run their hole for the run up to the game and they will do their talking on the field.

As if Tom Brady and company needed more bulletin board material, let's revisit some of the ridiculous statements that Rex Ryan has made about the New England Patriots in his first off season of his career with the Jets. He obviously came in with the intention to stir the pot.

"I never came here to kiss Bill Belichick's rings," Ryan said Wednesday in an interview on WFAN. "I came here to win, let's put it that way.... I'm certainly not intimidated by or anybody else."

“People think that New England, well this is a win for them,” Ryan said. “Oh, yeah? They’ve won eight in a row at the Meadowlands. So, you’ve got all that information. You’ve got that history, but I’m not conceding anything. I promise you, we are going to give everything we have, and I’m sure New England is going to give everything they have. If they don’t, that’s fine with me. But at the end of the day, we’ll see who the better team is right now.

“And again, I have a lot of confidence in our football team.”

"We will hit him more than six times (like Buffalo did). I promise you that," Rhodes told the N.Y. Daily News. "I'm sure if somebody is around his leg, or he feels pressure below, he's not going to step into his throw."

Tom Brady, in his usual Tom Brady way, dismissed all the chatter, saying "talk is cheap."

If the Patriots come out and play the way they did in the second half against the Bills on Sunday they will likely come home with their ninth win in a row at the Meadowlands, but if they play like they played in the first half against the Bills, the streak might be in danger.

One thing is for sure, you won't hear any talk from the Patriots organization, but you might...from their fans.

    MY New England Patriots Preview

We've talked about it on the show already and Timmy and Rubba Shoes will discuss it further tonight on the show, but I am leaving for St. Lucia tomorrow and won't be able to weigh in again until after game 1 of the 2009-2010 New England Patriots campaign. So, I wanted to take a minute and share my thoughts about what this season will hold for the Pats.

As Scotty Dukes so kindly pointed out after the show on Monday, the Patriots do not play the Chargers at all this season, so my prediction was a bit off, but I am sticking to the record. I think the Pats will go 13-3 this season and will cruise into the playoffs looking to make history again.

Then the question becomes, will they make the Super Bowl and win their fourth ring in this decade? To me, the answer is simple, YES. Sure, there are some questions about this team. The now, young defense, is untested, aside from Vince Wilfork, Adalius Thomas and a handful of others. The secondary is new and as yet unestablished. So, on the defensive side of the ball the Patriots aren't the powerhouse that they once were. However, they do still have one of the greatest defensive minds in the history of the game on the sidelines coaching them, so provided Coach Belichick made the right moves with players, this could be a very good defensive squad.

On the offensive side of the ball there are very few questions. A lot of people are saying it will be running back by committee, which it likely will be, but if your committee includes players like Fred Taylor and Sammy Morris, you're looking good, as long as they stay healthy. As for LoMo, this will be his final season to make an impact and if he doesn't I don't think anyone will be surprised if he is bounced.

Then finally there is the return of the MVP. Tom Brady is back and ready to make mush of the rest of the league. Imagine this, he hasn't completed a full game of football since the devastating loss to the NY Giants in the Super Bowl. You think a competitor like Tom Brady is going to forget that? I don't think so. The man is on a mission. He wants to make certain that his legacy is among the greatest, if not THE greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game and this year will let him prove it.

I stand by my prediction of 13-3 for the Pats and then a bumpy ride to the Super Bowl where they will win their fourth ring in this decade.

Now I am off to St. Lucia to swim with dolphins and sip rum drinks by the Caribbean ocean water. I will be updating with pictures of my trip on my page here so stop by and check them out from time to time.

Episode 110 - The Unofficial End

Labor Day Weekend marks the end of the beach season for most and the perceived end of a career for one of our own. Dickey Seymour is headed west and the guys (Timmy really) wonder if the dynasty in Foxboro is closing down too. The Red Sox are toying with early tee times and the fantasy season really starts to heat up with the football draft upon us and the hockey draft just around the corner as well. The guys respective schools got started this past weekend and there is much to talk about along with a musical selection from #93's new 'hood in honor of Michael Bowden. Thanks for listening and have a great short work week!

Should Tedy Bruschi Make The Hall of Fame?

Anyone that listens to the Wicked Pissa Dude Podcast knows, I am NOT a numbers guy. I can't recite how many tackles Tedy Bruschi had in his first season with the New England Patriots or how many interceptions he ran back for a touchdown in his career. (see Scotty Dukes post below for that information.)

I am a heart guy. What is a heart guy? I measure a player by how big their heart is. Of course, I don't think someone should get into the Hall of Fame just because they had a big heart and played hard, of course that would not be possible. I do however, think that getting into the hall is not ALL about the numbers. Getting into the Hall of Fame should be an honor bestowed on the most prolific players to have ever played the game, but also on those men who put up great numbers (maybe not HOF worthy numbers) but also worked hard, played with dignity, a generous heart and most importantly a committment to his team and fans.

Tedy Bruschi met and exceeded all of those criteria that I would set to put someone into the Hall of Fame. In his press conference yesterday he said that he set out to play for the New England Patriots for his entire career because he was tired of players moving around. God bless him for that, because I too am tired of players moving around. We are lucky to have had him play for the New England Patriots for his entire career.

For the intesity he showed on the field and the heart he showed off the field, Tedy Bruschi deserves to be inducted into both the Hall @ Patriot Place and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH.

I think Tedy Bruschi should be the first in a line of players that are measured for their professional achievements and their contributions to the community in which they play. The NFL runs all these ads during games about how the NFL is committed to the communities they have franchises in, Tedy Bruschi embodied that and for that he is a true New England hero.

    Episode 108 - TBFTFT

If you have been fortunate enough to see the Patriots play in person at Gillette stadium in the past 10 or so years you no doubt have seen the banner that has hung in the north east corner of the lower bowl at field level. It is placed there by season ticket holders who occupy those seats. It simply reads "54 FULL TILT FULL TIME" - it is in honor of the one and only Tedy Bruschi. The guy this show refers to as Tedy Beercan. Full Tilt came to an end today as he announced his retirement.

The guys celebrate his career and play a song in his tribute. Adam and Timmy also rant about the Sox and the upcoming College Football season as well. Thanks for listening and we'll see you on the field.

A True Patriot: Tedy Bruschi Retires

Today at a press conference in Foxboro a New England Patriot legend has announced his retirement from the gridiron. In 1996 when the Pats drafted Tedy "Beercan" Bruschi in the third round no one would have guessed we'd be talking this way about him 13 seasons later. Heck we were all too busy talking about how great Terry Glenn was going to be, and "she" was for awhile. The linebacker from the University of Arizona went from special teams captain to captain of the entire defense in just a few short seasons. 1,110 tackles 30.5 sacks and 12 INTs are numbers that could and should get him into the Hall, and not just the Hall at Patriot Place either. At first glance those numbers don't wow you, but when you dig into his career, he is the only player in NFL history to return four consecutive INT's for touchdowns, he was the defensive captain on 2 of 3 Super Bowl winning teams. But numbers are not what we will remember most about Tedy Bruschi.

After one of the greatest seasons in Patriots history, only days after winning the third championship in four years all of Pats nation stood stunned to learn that Bruschi had a stroke and was in the hospital in Boston. He was suffering from a heart defect which caused the mild stroke, and many at this point were just hoping he would walk out of that hospital again never mind come back and play for the Pats.

Though he would announce that he would sit out the entire 2005 season, Tedy was cleared to play in October and with the heart of a Patriot, and with the nervousness of us all watching, Tedy came back and played against the Buffalo Bills Oct 29th on national TV and wound up winning the defensive player of the week. He would go on to win Comeback Player of the Year that season, and of course play THREE more seasons with New England, something many thought was not possible. That heart and determination is what we will remember most.

Tedy "Beercan" Bruschi is a New England Patriot, and at age 36 he has done everything a football player can do. He is retiring with his head held high, he will not go down as the greatest linebacker there was, but he will be in my mind one of the greatest New England Patriots I have ever had the pleasure of watching.

2009 Summer of Death: Laid To Rest

This summer has been the most ridiculous summer of all time. It started out with nothing but rain and rain and rain, until none of us could take it anymore. Then, in between that, there were sunny days, but during those sunny days, buckets of people died. Let's quickly recap.

    In no particular order:

    1.) Michael Jackson
    2.) Farrah Fawcett
    3.) Billy Mays
    4.) Eunice Kennedy
    5.) Ted Kennedy
6.) Don Hewitt (creator of 60 Minutes)
    7.) Robert Novak
    8.) Les Paul
    9.) Walter Cronkite
    10.) Steve McNair

When Uncle Teddy is laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetary on Saturday, hopefully with him will go 2009 The Summer of Death, but before that happens I would like to take this opportunity to lay one more thing to rest.

First of all, I take no pleasure in the deaths of these greatly talented people who have passed away this summer, but I will take pleasure in hopefully laying to rest one of the most annoying topics of discussion in the history of Boston sports and I am talking about Super Bowl XLII.

The New England Patriots will play their third pre-season game tonight against the Washington Redskins, but all the pundits are chomping at the bit for their final pre-season game at Gillette Stadium against the NY Giants.

People can't wait to talk about Tom Brady's rematch or Eli Manning proving his worth. Guess what, neither of them will play more than a few snaps and it will likely be the most boring "re-match" in the history of the NFL. So let's all agree to lay to rest talk of Super Bowl XLII and move on to the 2009-2010 undefeated New England Patriots season (there I said it!!)

    RIP Ted Kennedy

I know this is a Boston sports blog and that we spend a lot of time talking about how Tom Brady's injury will impact the New England Patriots season or whether or not David Ortiz's career is over, but Tim and I are both passionate about politics as well and when it comes to Massachusetts politics there was no other like Edward M Kennedy.

I haven't discussed it with Tim, but I can be 100% sure that we both disagree on Uncle Teddy's politics (I think we've made our sides known in the health care debate and so has Sen. Kennedy to give you an idea) but I for one think that Senator Ted Kennedy was one of the greatest public servants that this nation has ever seen.

In a day and age when bickering and name calling are the order of the day, Ted Kennedy got legislation through the US Senate at an amazing rate and did it all while remaining civil and friendly with the other side.

This is how I think his approach relates to Wicked Pissa Dude. Tim and I typically disagree about most everything when it comes to politics, but no matter how heated the discussion gets, we remain friends until the end. There needs to be more of this attitude in Washington, where civil disagreement is the approach rather than civil unrest in politics.

Ted Kennedy was a giant among men. He was the least polished of his brothers, but he probably achieved more in his life then any of them ever did. He was a champion for the less fortunate and will be truly missed on the Senate floor, the streets of Massachusetts and in our hearts.

    Ep 106 - Death Valley

The White Mountains of New Hampshire ate Timmy and his neighborhood buddies alive over the weekend or was it Gooch that did them in? Find out on today's show.

Adam and wifey headed north for a return to studio VT for a weeklong getaway. Well, it's a vacation for Adam, because life is a vacation these days, but wifey is hard at work keeping the lights on.

Oh right and there were some sports to discuss. The Red Sox dropped two of three to the Yankees to fall to 7.5 games back of the New York Yankees. It wasn't pretty and the final stretch of the season won't be pretty either if something doesn't spark this team into a win or two or ten.

The Patriots also dropped their 2nd pre-season game to the Bengals, but Timmy and Adam agreed that coach doesn't put a whole lot of stock in wins and losses in the pre-season. Bring on September 14th and the Buffalo Bills.

New England Patriots Training Sweat Box

With temperatures hitting the mid-90's for the third straight day, the New England Patriots training camp is turning into a sweat-fest. Being in full pads yesterday and again today, Tom Brady and company MUST be burning up right now.

Often on the blog and show we start to trash the professional athletes we love because either they are SUCKING (see: Boston Red Sox) or they are whining about one thing or another. So, I wanted to take a moment out and praise these guys for the hard work and dedication they are showing this week and throughout training camp.

Now, I know, they get paid millions and millions of dollars to play a kids game, but I still think it is absolutely remarkable that they put on a ton of pads and go hit the crap out of each other in this heat.

As I sit here typing this, I am in my underwear (you're welcome) and I still can't get cool. All I am doing is typing and sweat is pouring off my face. Now, I am not a finely tuned professional athlete, BUT muscles and cardio fitness are not going to protect you from the sweltering heat that is New England in mid-August.

So here's to you Tom Brady. Here's to you Logan Mankins. Here's to you Randy Moss. Here's to you Tedy Bruschi. And to the rest of the New England Patriots who are battling this heat to get ready to be a finely tuned machine come opening night. We appreciate it.

    Episode 104 - Dirty Laundry

Adam and Timmy are back to put the wraps on a weekend full of disappointment. Tiger blew a 54 hole lead for the first time in 15 tries. The Red Sox blew a chance to distance themselves from the surging Rangers in the AL Wildcard race. The Pats were the lone bright spot but even that was before the weekend. Adam and Big Papi both have issues with their "laundry" which the guys will get to in due time. Thanks for checking out the show and enjoy the week ahead. It's all right here on Monday Night at Wicked Pissa Dude.

    Episode 103 - Coffee Talk

More technical troubles plague the Connecticut studios so Adam was not able to join the boys this Thursday. Timmy and Billy spill the beans over their passion for certain coffees as Rubba Shoes is forced to defend his local brew of choice.

The Red Sox are chipping away at the Yankee lead in the AL East, or at least trying to at this point.

The Patriots tee it up tonight for the first time since last September with Brady at the helm, they'll discuss.

Rick Pitino might be having coitus near the cannoli you are about to have for dessert! That's right, the guys will get to the bottom (no pun intended) of this spaghetti sex scandal once and for all.

So grab your favorite cup of caffeine and get ready for this weeks Thursday Night Addition on Wicked Pissa Dude. Thanks for listening and tell your friends. Go ahead, talk amongst yourselves...

    Episode 101 - Code Blue!

It was bound to happen with Adam and Timmy at the helm. The car went off the road a little bit and they ended up in a hospital somewhere between Hartford and Portsmouth with no insurance and a 1200 page bill about Health Insurance Reform.

Adam and Timmy spent the first half of the show discussing in detail the state of health care and the reform that is being talked about in Congress and throughout the country. A very important issue that requires a lot of discussion and thought. Not surprisingly the two of them didn't agree on much, but one thing they do agree on is that everyone should take the time to educate themselves about the substance of the bill and stand up for what they believe in

So, in that vein, you can read the bill here.

There were also sports to talk about today too with the much anticipated second half of the rivalry starting tonight. Red Sox @ Yankees with the Sox leading the season series 8-0 going into tonight's action.

Coming soon to wickedpissadude.com the Flickr album of Timmy's trip to Patriots training camp last week so keep checking back for that.
